about

System 7 are one of the very few techno-based dance music acts who can make a truly credible live performance. And in techno music this is about as live as it gets!

System 7’s live style powerfully shows their special position on the dance music genre map, occupying a space where progressive house, techno and psy-trance meet. Having perfected their live techno technique over a number of years System 7’s Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy use a sophisticated blend of programmed beats, Miquette’s live keyboards and Steve’s live psychedelic guitar to send audiences into dance delirium. They can be consistently relied upon to rock the house at regular live events in the UK, Europe, Japan, Australia, Mexico and elsewhere around the globe.

Lovingly recorded by the late and much lamented Japanese sound engineering legend Shiro Ono in a totally rammed Tokyo Liquid Room in August 2002, the Live Transmissions CD captures the magic of a unique live techno event. From the beguiling dreamy opening of ‘Fay Deau Deau’, System 7 take us on a journey with repeated peaks of intensity, culminating in their classic tracks ‘Alpha Wave’ and ‘Hangar 84’.

As one System 7 fan put it:- “...Wait for ‘High Plains Drifter (Voyager)! - Seems one of those sets where you think it's finished and peaked as much as it possibly could halfway through only to do it all again - the best! ...”

As planetgong.co.uk puts it:- "Featuring radically different live versions of tracks from nearly every one of System 7's previous albums as well as a performance of 'Teotehuican (Pyramid of the Sun)', only previously available on a Japanese compilation.

You can sense and hear the waves of enjoyment bouncing back and forth between Steve and Miquette and the crowd as the tunes, themes and beats flow and unfold in the live setting - perhaps the 'risks' you take in that enviroment pushes everything to the edge and beyond. Steve and Miquette certainly skim around the curve of the outer limits and back home again in big beating elliptical orbits of joy. Wonderful stuff! I'd guess that all those present simply floated home after it was all over."
