about

System 7’s third album – Point 3 – was released in two separate forms:- the Fire Album and the Water album. The Water album had mostly the same titles mixed almost entirely without drums.

Originally released in September 1994, the Fire Album was recorded at producer Youth’s legendary Butterfly Studios in London, and features collaborations with Laurent Garnier, Youth, DJ Lewis Keogh, Derrick May and The Drum Club.

Opening track 'Sirenes' featuring Steve Hillage’s iconic space guitar is one of two tracks co-written and co-produced with top French techno DJ Laurent Garnier, and was also released as a big club single with remixes by Detroit legend Carl Craig and Chicago hero Marshall Jefferson.

One of the two tracks produced by System 7’s Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy - 'AlphaWave' - was later remixed by Richie Hawtin (Plastikman) and became System 7’s biggest ever single, still selling to this day on vinyl and on Beatport download.

There is also a strong ambient element intertwined within the techno beats of the Fire Album, and more featured on the more downtempo tracks like 'Dr Livingstone I Presume' and 'Batukau' and the psy-trance influenced 'Gliding On Duotone Curves'. The ambient element also features some sounds and effects recorded in Bali by System 7.

Point 3 Fire Album was re-released in 2003 on System 7’s own A-Wave label.
