about

Originally released in September 1994 in parallel with the Point 3 Fire Album, the Point 3 Water Album has had a life of its own ever since.

The Water album is largely the same tracks as the Fire album but with completely different mixes mostly without drums. At times relaxing at times overwhelming this has been seen by many as the follow-on to our original chill-out album 'Rainbow Dome Music' from 1979 - although in many respects this is like a trance album without drums rather than a typical ambient album.

Standout tracks include the Tranquility Mix of the Laurent Garnier collaboration track 'Sirenes', the Hemi-Sync Mix of what is now the classic System 7 track 'AlphaWave', and the Feed Your Head Mix of the track 'Jupiter!', which was originally a collaboration with the Drum Club.

All the Water album remixes and re-edits were made by System 7’s Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, some at their own studio facility. The original Fire album versions were all recorded at Youth’s Butterfly studios, a seminal venue for the early development of the psy-trance movement in the UK.

The Water album has been a consistent seller over the years and is an essential component in System 7’s full ambient-techno catalogue.

“Chilled beyond chill, ambient beyond ambient; these remixes are like the reflections bouncing off of the water into the sky.”

Point 3 Water album was re-released in 2003 on System 7’s own A-Wave label.
